Beautiful and Stressful
Algarve Coastal Route
We enjoyed seeing and exploring the towns of the Algarve. The beaches were beautiful, hotels were very nice, we had delicious meals. The least enjoyable was the biking. We rented Ebikes. A lot of time was spent on busy roads with traffic and cars and trucks whizzing by. On the no traffic parts, the trail was rocky, gravelly with potholes a good percentage of the time. The trails are unmaintained. We did bike through nature areas along the water which was lovely. We did this trip the third week in April. The weather was perfect- 70’s and sunny. This was our 7th bike trip. We enjoyed our trip to the Algarve and glad we did it, but the biking was not as enjoyable as our other trips and at times very stressful.

Beautiful trip
UNESCO Sites of Albania
This tour showed off some amazing countryside, scenic vistas and quiet roads in Albania that many visitors would not otherwise see. Our driver Roxhens was really enthusiastic, supportive and went to great lengths to help us out even when it wasn’t part of his job (on an unguided tour).

Great trip
UNESCO Sites of Albania
Great trip. Scenery is amazing. From high mountains to the sea! Most roads were low traffic (except in towns). The last day had a bit more traffic on the climb but wasn’t too bad. (When the tunnel opens there will be less automobile traffic)There is definitely a lot of climbing (some steep - 10%). So consider an e-bike unless you’re an avid cyclist. Food was good. No problems as a vegetarian. Hotels were good. No problems (a couple were really luxurious).

Albania is gorgeous!
UNESCO Sites of Albania
What a surprise to see the natural beauty of Albania by bicycle. We rode below snow capped peaks; through farmland; and along the Adriatic Coast. All of it was stunning. The riding was challenging and interesting without being too demanding. The bikes were very comfortable .Our guide was wonderful. He kept our bikes in tip top condition and kept his eye out for each one of us while riding. He shared his knowledge of Albania with us, and daily he recommended the best coffee and lunch stops. (We had an unguided trip). There was a variety of hotel styles and amenities, from basic to luxury.

Fantastic trip
Portugal's Coastal Splendor from Porto to Lisbon
Friendly, helpful staff, especially Juan, Thelmo. Told us about the real local places to eat, hangout. Hotels were all great. Weather was very nice, scenery great.

Terrific easy ride downriver
Danube Bike Path 7 Nights (Classic)
We really enjoyed the self-guided ride. We were glad to have the e-bikes for windy days although even we could’ve done this on regular bikes. The hotels were great, luggage on time every day, great breakfast buffets. Bikes were in great condition and hotels had an easy setup to allow for charging in a secured area so we never had to move batteries around to charge them.
I got the gpx files from the local provider and uploaded them to Komoot, which worked great. The provider’s app had more local info but we were used to the Komoot interface so preferred it. Definitely pay attention to where you will be on Sundays/holidays as grocery stores are closed and the hotel restaurant might be closed some days too.
We will for sure be back for another tour. This just whet our appetites for the more intimate interaction with your surroundings that cycling provides. - ★★★★★ Alaine and Bill

Split to Dalmatian Islands
We did a self guided tour, the tour director met with us and provided interesting info about Croatia, the routes we would follow, accessing the ferries and more. He was very patient as two 70 year olds mastered the GPS route guidance. It was a great tour and nice to come back to our small apartment each day. The apartment host was very accommodating as well.

Excellent Tour
Best of Holland South: Canals, Windmills & Historic Towns
A cycling tour of South Holland was an excellent way to experience the beauty of the Netherlands. The routes showcased a stunning variety of landscapes, including canals, cities, windmills, farms, ferry crossings, and coastal sand dunes. Granada, white villages to Ronda
Granada, White Villages and Costa del Sol
We had a great experience and the level of service that Jorge & Antonio provided made the difference in making this a truly amazing trip. Jorge kept in touch with us daily to ensure all was good, our luggage always arrived at the destination ahead of us. We had new bikes, and when the odd thing went wrong with the equipment Antonio came and repaired what needed fixing. The only issue we had was the Garmin, which ran out of power, so they arranged for a power pack that extended its range .

E bike ride
Granada, White Villages and Costa del Sol
Great way to see Spain off the beaten track. New e bikes from Bicicletas La Estacion in Granada, we had an issue with brakes on one of the bikes and GPS running out of battery on our way to Loja, Antonio picked up, fixed and returned bike same night and brought back up battery for the GPS. We really recommend renting the GPS as map books are difficult to follow. Ground handler, Jorge, was awesome, he was in contact with us daily and responded immediately to any issues we had. Caminito del Rey is unbelievably beautiful, but don’t go with high expectations of Hotel La Gargantua as it is comfortable, but it is nothing like the other hotels and Paradors which exceeded expectations. We stayed two nights in Antequera and Ronda which we recommend. If you are on an ebike, conserve your battery as much as you can from Caminito to Ronda as it is a good climb. Lastly, dealing with Penelope from Bike tours.com made the planning of the trip effortless.

Most Beautiful Landscape Ever
Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps
Our October 2024 (9th biking tour) tour began in Dobbiaco, taking us through some of the most stunning bike trails we have ever encountered. The support provided by the tour company was exceptional, featuring a dedicated app and constant availability via WhatsApp.
The bikes we used were top-notch and impeccably maintained—I even found myself wanting to purchase the same brand for personal use at home. Our accommodations were charming, with the usual mix of lovely stays and the occasional less-than-perfect hotel.
Please consider arriving in Dobbiaco a full day before. There are lakes and hikes you can do before your trip. I wish we had done that :-)

Camino de Santiago: From Leon to Santiago on an E-Bike
Embarking on our 10th bike tour, we ventured from Leon to Santiago using e-bikes for the first time. The journey was both exciting and challenging, offering breathtaking scenery throughout. Despite it being early spring with many closed hotels, the route was well-planned and curated for us, thanks to Sergio and his team.
The transition from paved roads in bustling areas to thrilling mountain biking paths was seamless. Potential travelers should be prepared for a significant amount of MTB terrain, making the journey quite challenging. The well-maintained e-bikes provided a sense of safety and reliability throughout our trip. In case of any issues, we were equipped with repair tools and had Sergio readily available to address any questions.
We experienced a mix of accommodations, from charming hotels to more practical one-night stays, which complemented the tour perfectly. Overall, it was a rewarding adventure that left us feeling a sense of accomplishment.

Beautiful and Well-Organized Tour
Catalonia's Region of Empordà by Gravel Bike
We had a fantastic time on this tour. For one thing, the scenery is great, and being on gravel for a lot of the time means you get to appreciate it a bit more than we have on more road-oriented tours where we have to pay more attention to traffic.
In particular the scenery along the coasts was great, and it was obvious that great care had been taken with the routes so that we'd get to see some of the best that the Costa Brava has to offer.
Perhaps our favorite part of the tour was the local operator. They were extremely helpful and easy to reach, and always stayed in touch to make sure that everything was going well. On a day with bad weather they specifically gave us some routing tips to make sure that we'd stay safe. They also were very well organized with how they provided the routes via Ride with GPS that made it really easy to see the recommended sites and restaurants in the towns we passed through.

Superb Bike Touring
UNESCO Sites of Albania
This bike tour was a great introduction to Albania and it highlighted the rugged beauty of the country and the warmth and friendliness of the people. The tour had a great balance of challenging terrain and beautiful rolling countryside. If you are not so keen on the challenge, e-bikes are available, so there is no excuse not to take this tour.
Some people questioned why we would go to Albania, fearing we might not be safe, but that was never an issue during the entire tour. We never felt anything but warmth and hospitality from the locals who would often wave and offer support as they drove by in their cars. That was a first.
We selected the guided tour(we normally go self guided) as it included all meals and we are glad we did. The food was great almost without exception and our guide Arjan ensured we got plenty of variety over the duration of the tour. He also managed the group brilliantly, allowing a little freedom in the individual pace of different sub groups, so that everyone could go at their own pace depending on how they felt on the day. We were lucky to have him.
The quality of the accommodation was a little uneven, but that was to be expected when a tour like this takes you to all parts of the country, from major towns to relatively remote provincial areas. All accommodation providers were doing their very best to give us an authentic Albanian experience. We got a good sense of the real Albania.
If you take the decision to take this tour, you will not regret it. It was up there with the best tours we ever done.

Self-guided Northern Italy
Bolzano – Verona – Venice
Great ride, E Bikes, 3 adults in their 70's and 80's.
We had a wonderful self-guided ride about 220 miles on mostly- paved wide bike paths using the GPS tracks which we had previously downloaded and riding on our Girolibero bikes (which were in perfect shape). The travel guide emailed to us by Bike Tours was excellent, giving cultural information as well as the daily mileage requirement and tips on how to shorten our day using the local trains which we never found to be desired or necessary. The guide also included all the necessary vouchers for our hotels, ferry ride and free ice cream as well as travel info on getting to Bolzano. The ride itself was spectacularly beautiful, especially starting near the Dolomites and following the River Adige with mountains on the other side all the way down to Lake Garda.
There was a detour programmed into our GPS tracks and also a surprise one which was not. We navigated that short detour pretty well for not speaking Italian thanks to the very helpful/understandable signage. We had selected three star hotels which we might change to four star for our next ride. The first three days the hotels and the breakfasts were top notch but after that got progressively more like 2 star hotels ending in Venice/Mestre where we were escorted to a refurbished garage behind the main hotel, not what we had hoped for on our last and only night in Italy. In terms of the bike route itself we found the 4 hour ferry ride on Lake Garda unfortunate as there is a bike path around the lake which we would have preferred. The ferry ride was totally fogged in so we could not enjoy the beautiful sights and there was no food or drink available on board -a long 4 hours to think about a glass of wine. On the whole, we loved the trip and would do it again- the mountains, the exercise, the cuisine, the history, the people. Getting to Bolzano when our flights landed in Venice was our biggest problem - we had trouble trying to decipher the train system. But then the Bolzano funicula ride and the adventure on the ridge line overlooking the city and the Dolomites in the distance made up for getting bogged down catching trains. A really fun bike trip
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
We decided to try this tour as a way to see the countryside of Portugal, and it was a great success. We did the self-guided tour, so could stop where and when we wanted, and could set our own pace. We saw so many beautiful places that we never would've seen if we'd rented a car and figured out our own route.
The routes were well curated, avoiding busy roads and difficult trails for the most part, and fit our abilities well. I used a hybrid bike for the low gearing (some of the climbs were steep, and I used the bike's lowest gears), and my wife used an e-bike. The e-bike was geared well for the climbs, and although we were initially worried about running low on battery, she always finished the day with plenty of power to spare.
Our first two riding days were in a moderate steady rain. We had decent rain gear and both bikes had fenders, so we stayed dry and warm enough. We did the hybrid trail the first day, but switched to the paved version on the second because of the rain making the trails too muddy. I'd recommend just doing the paved version on any day with much rain.
We took this ride the beginning of November. The temperatures were pleasant, but the days were short. We stopped where we wanted, looked at lots of interesting scenery and views, and visited off-the-beaten-path locations, but generally arrived at our destination near sundown. We were happy we added a free day for sightseeing in Sintra, and in retrospect, probably should've done the same in Obidos.
We had an excellent trip, highly recommended!

Perfect Trip and Exactly what I was looking for!
Cycling in the Heart of Puglia
This trip was perfect in so many ways. The logistics were amazing from the great hotels to the perfect mileage on the bike each day. I appreciated the level of support that was just enough and not too much given I wanted the time to myself without too much engagement with the company. The bike was wonderful and the routes were full of beauty and adventure. I also really loved the time of year at the end of the season when things were quiet..including the roads! The team at biketours.com made the planning easy and they listened to exactly what I wanted out of the trip...interesting hotels and experiences. I can't say enough positive things about the experience. I will definitely be back for another trip!
