On our own. In the land of Castles and Beer
Vienna to Budapest 5-nights (Active)
Perhaps I had not done all my homework as my Zmom had just passed and we were in Rurope two weeks before this. We never received any hardcopy trip material. Emails told us not to print anything off / we’d get everything
Our Vienna contract was very helpful and gave us a printed guide book. We failed to download the routes which others found helpful. Local gps also came into play.
Hotels and booked dinners were all quite lovely.
My husband fell on the third day and bruised ribs so we rode in the luggage fan the next two days snd I doubled back on the paths for a few hours.
The ebike was extremely heavy - twice the weight of his ebike at home.We would recommend the experience to others but warn them to do their homework.

Tales From the Danube Cycle Path
Danube Cycle Path Passau – Budapest
This was the trip of our dreams and was so great, I had to write a book about it!
We had amazing sights along flat paths, delicious wine in wine country and met interesting people. Navigating from the app was a bit challenging and there may have been a corn field we found ourselves in in Hungary where the paths weren't as easy to follow. However, it all added to the adventure. BikeTours was easy to work with and I highly recommend them.- What was the date of your tour?

Super Fun Bike Tour
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
This was a great tour. All of the details were handled very smoothly. Sandy took care of the luggage transfer with no problems. We enjoyed the towns and hotels that we visited. All of the meals were delicious. We usually don’t purchase dinners through the tour but in this case we were glad that we did because we got several evenings of authentic Hungarian meals. The bikes we rented were great for the terrain we cycled on. We will happily book other bike tours with this company.

My friends and I had a great time on this tour. Hotels were in the perfect locations to explore each city. Can’t wait to do another bike tour!

Great cycling trip!
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
The classic tour from Vienna to Budapest exceeded our expectations. We had a lovely stretch of weather, warm with no rain, so the riding was easy and pleasant. The small towns were delightful, especially Gyor, and every hotel was comfortable.
The bikes were sturdy but lightweight, easy to ride and control.
Power banks were needed every day to maintain the provided navigation. - ★★★★★ Deidra Goodacre
Fab 4 Bike trip
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
We had a wonderful time biking the Danube from Vienna to Budapest. The accommodations were great and the app was easy to follow. The bikes were very comfortable with soft seats and fairly upright so no wrist or neck issues. Our group of four ladies was a perfect amount of people to travel with. I would encourage anyone who can bike to do this trip.

A great intro to bike touring
Danube Cycle Path Passau – Budapest
This was a fairly gentle tour along the river, passing through and staying in some lovely picturesque cities and towns. The scenery was sometimes pretty but lengthy sections could be monotonous. This isn't anyone's fault - it's the official Euro Velo route.
On two days, train tickets were provided, presumably to limit the distance ridden, but, on both occasions, we elected to ride, making the longest days a touch over 80km and there was ample range in the ebikes for that. The bikes were great and appeared almost brand new. I would, however, recommend a pair (or two) of bike shorts or your own saddle.
The (optional) phone app from the local tour operator (Pedalo) was generally good for navigation, though a distance countdown for the day's ride would be a great addition.
However, we only stumbled over information about the day 1 briefing and bike handover in the app at the last second. More proactive communication (a welcome email a couple of days out?) would have been helpful. Pedalo support was good when we needed to contact them, though.- What was the date of your tour?

Really beautiful scenery and a great bike to take me down the paths
Danube Cycle Path Passau – Budapest
I really enjoyed the trip. The scenery was gorgeous. The navigation app worked well, and pointed out the details we needed to cross the road when needed, and circle around to cross bridges. Our luggage transfers were seamless. I was happy with my pedal assist ebike, which worked without a hitch and made the riding just the right level of athletic challenge (but not too much). We got a great overview of the ride from Vienna to Budapest from a meeting with the tour operator, so we knew what to expect, and weren't confused on our rail and boat transfers towards the end.
I liked staying in the smaller towns, where I could see how people live, and experience local hospitality.

Prima volta in bici
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)

Record Low Water Levels on Danube
Danube Capitals Bike & Boat Tour
Despite the disappointment of having the itinerary substantially changed because of the record low water levels on the Danube River, we were impressed that the crew was able to pull off a really nice trip with only about ten days' notice. They provided nice bike routes for each day, the dockings were at interesting places, the meals were amazing, and the tour guide Jurgen did an amazing job of pulling it all off.

Pedal, Explore, Eat, Repeat
Danube Cycle Path Passau – Budapest
Riding bicycles through the countryside, towns and cities of four countries allowed us to experience and explore at our own pace and pleasure. The route was well-planned with a navigation app allowing us to avoid most of the major roads and traffic while traveling through villages, farm fields and along the Danube. Our luggage arrived at each hotel as planned; the hotels were really nice and had great breakfasts; and our lodging was always located close to scenic areas (like the Danube) or city sites. The bicycles we rented from biketours.com were in excellent condition allowing us a trouble-free ride, and came with a panniers for things we needed to keep with us. Biketours uses local partners to implement rides and we did have one blip in the itinerary where we were supposed to take a boat on the Danube from Szentendre to Budapest and the boat service had been suspended. The local operator was responsive and apologetic and helped us formulate an alternative plan. I would use biketours.com again. I would add that there are sections where you ride in city traffic or on minor roads with no bike lane. I didn't enjoy that, but it was unavoidable to get to our hotels which were located to provide us with easier access to the sites.

Very relaxing
Danube Capitals Bike & Boat Tour
This is my first time on a River bike cruise and I loved it!!! The staff on board The Isabella were outstanding , the food was great with lots of variety. Except for the afternoon coffee and cake at 4:00 pm(it’s the same cake everyday) The cruise director however was difficult to work with as I think she’s overworked, bit unorganized and very limited patience. The trip itinerary is fabulous and I’d highly recommend it.

Great way to see the countries.
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
We were part of a group of eight people. Ride was lovely, scenery, small towns very nice. Hotels were good, breakfast always a nice way to start the day. I have only one complaint..we were told that we would recieve a printed guide map upon arrival. We did not. We asked for one or two for those that were counting on it, never recieved the maps. A bit dissapointing considering the size of our group and because we had been told in corrrespondence that such map would be provided. This should have been corrected, easily, and it was not.

Danube Cycle Path Passau – Budapest
The bikes were great, accommodations just right.some of the lengths were too short followed by very long consecutive days. More even mileage would be good.

Fabulous trip, great for a group
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
What a great way to see so many little towns that likely people would not visit unless they were doing this trip. We loved very little town for a different reason and in its own way! We had some rough weather one day but we sorted that out. We had a group of 8 and this trip is very good for a larger group like that!
I would like to have known more about what was provided before we arrived. We were told there were no bottle cages, but our bike had them. i didnt bring a bottle because i thought we would not have them. Also, we did NOT have large packs on the bike, which we were told we WOULD have. So my packing was just the opposite of what I would have packed had i known the actual equipment. But we sorted it out after the first day and got on with it! Loved the vest we got for the tour, it served me very well. i used it every day. We rented the gravel bikes, well worth the money if you are an avid cyclist. They were great bikes!!- What was the date of your tour?

Danube May 26
Danube Cycle Path Passau – Budapest
Personally I rarely do reviews. This one is one where I couldn’t wait for an opportunity to thank this group for providing myself and my wingman with the best ride of my life. I’ve done a lot of touring. Distance wise this is shorter than most I have done however the tour itinerary provided me with more great memories and fun riding days than any other. To sum it up my expectations were completely exceeded at every level.

Beautiful & Historically Rich
Vienna to Budapest (Classic)
Our self guided cycle trip from Vienna to Budapest was extraordinary. The navigation guide worked really well for the daily cycles and the pacing of our days was great, other than we would have opted to stay in some of the cities like Gyor and Budapest for an extra day to do some history tours. Great hotels, planning and support otherwise.
