Nice route, good bikes, great hotels, flakey FunActive app
Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps
Very nice route. The instructions at times were too terse so that we did not know that we had a private ride at one point and thought it to be public transport. The exit from Bled went very smoothly but again we did not know quite what was planned beforehand. Initial pickup of the bikes and documents also was not clear and we had to go to the FunActive office to arrange that.
The final leg to Trieste could be improved, we took both the recommended and our improved route so know this to be so (I can supply the GPX if wanted).
The FunActive App is comprehensive but often stops functioning and uses a lot of battery. It would be better if it had less functionality but always worked.
Bikes were great. The front-box supplied did not fit the guidebook supplied!
Hotels and their meals were all great. - ★★★★★ Ray Friedman
Excellent routes. Beautiful. Some issues with service.
Dolomites to Trieste via Lake Bled at the Foot of the Julian Alps
The trip, overall, was wonderful. Beautiful views and great trails. We had a few problems communicating with the staff, which I’ll come back to.
The first day was gorgeous. Going through the Dolomites, on dedicated bike trails that were full of everything from serious riders to families with kids on bikes. Nice graduate downhill. Our ebikes used only 2 out of 5 bars on the battery indicator. Ended at a very small town, Oberdrauburg, which had a grocery, a few restaurants, and one of the best cake shops I have ever been to! But now much else to do.The second day to Feistritz was a bit less exciting, we were on (mostly empty) roads about half the time, and again you end in a very small town. If it is warm, bring your swimsuit with you! You pass a lake with nice beaches and hundreds of people out sunning themselves. Closer to the Feinstritz, there was wonderful local outdoor swim club. After getting our swimsuits, we backtracked about 15 minutes to that swim club. A nice way to spend the late afternoon.
The third day was spectacular! The scenery was amazing, and the dedicated bike trails were also amazing. There is some uphill on this day, and a bit of easy road riding, but it ends a Bled which is stunning. We got to swim again.
The fourth day took a bit more concentration, with some time on bigger roads. Not too much traffic, but there were a few trucks. Ended at Cividale, which is a UNESCO World Heritage town that I had never heard of. Seeing Cividale was the big payoff for this day.
The fifth day was a lot on gravel roads through flat fields. Think Nebraska corn fields, but with grape vines. The biking was good exercise, but not so beautiful. However, Udine was another big surprise. A small town that was very much worth the time. Don’t take the shortcut that misses Udine! We ended at The Franz hotel, which has a pool that was very much appreciated after a hot day of biking.
The last ride was to Trieste. We decided to play it safe and do the inland route. It was actually quite beautiful, and we were happy to avoid the stress of cars on the coastal route. Once in Trieste, it was very hard to follow the route and to navigate the city. We loved the city, but just not on bikes. We stayed an extra day in Trieste and really enjoyed it. A beautiful city, that was not nearly as crowded as more well-known tourist spots in Italy.
Overall, the hotels were OK. The first three did not have A/C, and two of those had no elevator. We managed to carry our luggage to the third floor, but we were tired and hot. This is an issue only in the summer months. The heat while biking was not so bad, but some of the hotel rooms were around 80 degrees.
The app worked well for guidance except I had to learn that when it said “In 90 meters…” it really meant about 20 or 30 meters. And it occasionally got left and right backwards (I just followed the map on my phone). Still, it worked well. Do beware that it needs to be running constantly, so burns through power on your cell phone. I learned to be careful to stop it when we took breaks, and we switched to my wife’s phone mid-day. SHOW MORE
My only big annoyance was communication with the staff. There was no one to meet you and show you how to control the ebike when you arrive (there was a video introduction in German). We found our way to the bike shop, but they were clearly unhappy to be dealing with us. We had arranged to rent helmets, but these were not with the bikes, and there was no explanation of what to do. We called the contact number, they told us the bike shop would have them. But the bike shop initially said that they don’t do that (it got cleared up with a call to the office). I had problems with the seat, and the shop said they couldn’t swap seats. Fair enough, but then I had to push them to adjust the seat (slide it back on the rail a bit) to make it better, and they were clearly unhappy doing that simple adjustment. They warned us that we were responsible for the bikes, so I was surprised they only provide one lock for two bikes. The office told us to pick up a second one at the shop, but the shop refused. I found out that at the first hotel, the plugs are spread apart, so you couldn’t plug them in and lock them together. It was not clear if that would be the case at the other hotels, so I asked if we can leave one unlocked in the hotel, if needed. They said it “should” be OK. I was hoping for a clear answer, since they emphasized that we are responsible for the bikes.
Overall, a great trip. We loved the route. The bikes and app worked fine. The hotels were good except for the heat in a few of them. Communication with the company was the main issue. (By the way, the bike shop staff in Trieste were wonderful.)
I’m glad we did the trip. Wish they could have made it easier on the first day.

Holand with friends anf family
Best of Holland South: Canals, Windmills & Historic Towns
This was a great exerience! 2 families with teeangers, and we all had a great time. The rides on Holland are very easy, all flat terrain, navigation is very simple.
The ride is great but on the fort 2 days it does follow a lot of car ways, so you do get to pedal a log time next to hignways and roads in very long straight lines. Our first trip in Austria the cycle paths did go well into forests, and areas where you could only cicle or walk, with lots small little paths that made it very unique as you did feel that if you where not in a bike you would had never seen those areas. Never the less this was beautiful, and it did get better every day, scenery, riden a small ferry, and moni adventures like taht that actually makes this ttip more fun. All very well organized, hotels were on the top end and all where really great, charming, great locations once you were in the actual city or town, which these were all amazing! We added going oof the path and having lunch on the actual beach on our last day, and that was great! It made us really appreciate all sort of terrains in Holland. Lovely Cycle Through the Czech & Saxon Countryside!
Prague to Dresden Along the Vltava & Elbe Rivers
This trip was a great way to experience Czechia & Saxony! We absolutely loved cycling through the countryside, enjoying the bucolic farmlands and winding along the river. There were some stretches that were through more industrial areas, which weren't the most pleasant. There were also more hilly and off-road stretches than we experienced on our Danube bike tour a few years ago. Except for a few times in more urban/busy areas, the routes were relatively car-free and felt safe. The Ride with GPS app really helped with navigation-- we loved it! It was nice to be able to glance down at our phones and know that we were on track.
Our favorite times were cycling through Czech farmlands, enjoying the diverse birds we found there, including red kites, red-backed shrike, Eurasian skylark and wagtails. We also enjoyed exploring the towns of Litomerice, Decin, and Bad Schandau. We did two hikes in the Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland National Park. The first hike was in the Czech part of the park, out of Hrensko, a tacky tourist town. Unfortunately there had been a recent wildfire, so the hike was very exposed, and once we got to the top it felt very commercialized, with gift shops and overpriced restaurants. The next day we hiked in the German side of the park, out of Rathen, which had stunning scenery and actually felt like a national park. We would recommend this hike over the first.
Overall our accommodations were very good, in quiet, clean, comfortable hotels with nice breakfast spreads. Our favorite hotels were in Prague (Hotel Clement) and Litomerice (Pension Dubina). Our bikes were excellent, suited to both on and off road cycling. It was easy to communicate with our tour guides through the WhatsApp group chat.
Overall we would recommend this bike trip to others!

Marvellous route
Cycling Spain's Ebro River
A great tour, very scenic, great hospitality.
We were at wonderful places, we'd never found ourselves. It felt safe all the eay with few cars - only exception was the short route to Laguardia. Only twice we had to pull the bikes (not e-) uphill.
The personel was exceptional helpful and engaged. The variety in hotels, places. dinners etc. was very fine.- Countries included in this tour?

Trip to remember!
Lake Constance Bicycle Path
Four of us did the self guided tour around Lake Constance. The scenery and the towns were so cute! Three nights of the hotel stays were great, but unfortunately two of them were well below standard. When doing this trip make sure you say that you don't want to stay in Vis-à-vis in Lindau (right opposite the train station) and in Hotel Frohsinn in Arbon (currently busy with construction) and the noise started at 7:15am :( Will I recommend doing this bike ride: Yes!!! The bikes were in great condition and you will have the opportunity to eat a lot of wonderful gelato! Oh, all the hotels gave breakfast and it was great!!

Lake Constance Family Trip
Lake Constance Bicycle Path
Well organized, with smooth daily transitions. I would add another day to shorten the daily ride to 40km as it will free up time for strolling around. Breakfasts were outstanding. Vis a Vis in Lindau not of the same standard with very depressing rooms. Frohsinn in Arbon a building site and we should have been given a choice and not just booked into the hotel.
Overall a trip I will recommend as the standard was high and the communication and support throughout excellent.- What was the date of your tour?

Last minute change
Lyon Highlights E-Bike Tour
Our tour was changed from 3h to 2h at last minute - we were told to expect a partial refund? My 1st city tour using ebike but it felt 'light' compared to similar city bike experiences in other places. This was in the middle of a heatwave so maybe that affected some logistics. First time a bike tour has not included a bottle of water .. but we did stop at a drinking fountain 😂

Fantastic trip with amazing hotels locations
Tuscany and Umbria: Cycling in the Heart of Italy
Did this trip unguided and my spouse and adult children (and significant others). While the hills were tough definitely doable for most (spouse was on e-bike). The hotel locations in historic city centers was the highlight. Scenery was spectacular. We did take the recommended day off in Oriveto which was a hit.

Good biking, great people, excellent food
Cycling the West Balkan Triangle
This tour exceeded my expectations which were quite high. One note for flat land bikers - there are some serious ascents on this trail ex. Day 1 was 38 miles with 3,400 foot climb. So consider an e-bike or at minimum a road bike. First two days were good but days 3 through 6 were amazing. Accommodations were a solid 3 to 4 star with stays mainly along the coast, in historic old towns or in mountain villages. Alex, a former professional bike racer, challenged the group to get the most out of every day. Luka in the trail van was an excellent provider and always there when you needed something. Breakfast and lunch is included everyday of the tour. Lunches were exceptional on days 3, 4, 5 and 6. I never tired of biking along the Adriatic coast with stunning views on most days. I have no hesitation in recommending this trip. You will not regret it.

Beautiful and overall great trip. While our itinerary said we would have 25-37 miles/day, we rode much less, often finishing the day of riding at 1:30 pm. I would have preferred to ride longer, finishing between 3:30-4:00 pm with opportunities for more stops along the way for photos, etc.

- first one! I would have enjoyed the tour more if the guides were more knowledgeable about local history, birds, crops, flowers, etc. Our guides were competent riders, but could be better with local knowledge (didn't know when olives were harvested!). Lunches could have been expedited by letting local restaurants know that our group was arriving instead of trying to find a cafe that was open and able to serve such a large group (23). Our best lunch was when the guides called ahead and paella was served family style.
