Beautiful and Well-Organized Tour
Catalonia's Region of Empordà by Gravel Bike
We had a fantastic time on this tour. For one thing, the scenery is great, and being on gravel for a lot of the time means you get to appreciate it a bit more than we have on more road-oriented tours where we have to pay more attention to traffic.
In particular the scenery along the coasts was great, and it was obvious that great care had been taken with the routes so that we'd get to see some of the best that the Costa Brava has to offer.
Perhaps our favorite part of the tour was the local operator. They were extremely helpful and easy to reach, and always stayed in touch to make sure that everything was going well. On a day with bad weather they specifically gave us some routing tips to make sure that we'd stay safe. They also were very well organized with how they provided the routes via Ride with GPS that made it really easy to see the recommended sites and restaurants in the towns we passed through.

Great trip to end the year
Great Pyrenees and Costa Brava E-Bike Tour
This was my first trip to Spain but my second BikeTours trip of the year. We were incredibly blessed to have good sunny weather for 95% of the trip! The bike company we worked with were very kind and helpful. I needed a replacement bike after day 2 and they quickly delivered a new one for me! The routes and maps were well planned out and gave us the opportunity to see a lot of varied terrain and some really cool little villages. It was nice to not have too much 'in town' cycling and we saw a lot of beautiful scenery along the way. My favorite was the stretch from Figueres to Lot, it was stunning. Looking forward to booking another trip in the Spring. The communication with Bike Tours is always fast and efficient and I appreciate their help each step of the way!

Perfect tour of Catalonia!
Great Pyrenees and Costa Brava E-Bike Tour
From our welcome and thorough briefing in Girona, to the comfortable and capable bikes, the stunning views, memorable accommodations, delectable food and wine, history and wonder of the region, I highly recommend this trip! The tour winds all across Catalonia and offers many miles on trials and nearly car-free roads. The drivers in Catalonia were extremely courteous and always provided plenty of room when passing. We found the directions, information, and navigation app to be easy to use (make sure you bring a portable charger for your phone). The tour operators provide suggestions to customize your itinerary for each day dependent on distance and interest. The e-bikes are a great match for this enticing and challenging route! We traveled in April and found the weather to be quite lovely. Catalonia is windy so be sure to bring the appropriate gear. Yet another reason to love the e-bikes! We opted for the premium hotel and added on a few of the additional tours/meals offered through the tour operator. Happy with all of it!

Exceeded expectations
Wine & Cuisine in Girona's Emporda Plain
Bike tours, Catalonia was an exemplary tour operator for us. The entire entire office staff welcomed us and rallied around getting our bikes ready to start out on the tour. Our tour guide and sag wagon drivers were fantastic help, and great company throughout. Girona and the whole Costa Brava tour route Was most enjoyable. The beach resort center were very highly developed, and not the sort of bucolic experience we seek , but we’re nonetheless not unpleasant. We were not overly impressed by the restaurant cuisine, in particular found the Michelin star restaurant to be more pretentious than interesting. We would skip that to Ed in a more representative local restaurant another time.

Amazing trip!
Medieval Villages of Catalonia
Absolutely wonderful tour along the Costa Brava. Daniel was an amazing host - incredibly responsive, attentive, and helpful (he swapped out two of our cyclist's bikes for e-bikes in the middle of the trip). I would say that the destinations were, at times, better than the routes themselves. The mediterranean sea was STUNNING, as were the medieval villages, but the routes took us through dry, hot landscapes. The final day was also a highlight - summiting a famous girona cycling route to Els Angels. The routes always felt safe and very doable (in terms of distance and difficulty). I would recommend an e-bike as there were plenty of rolling hills, and very high elevation gain on the final day. Highly recommend this trip to anyone!

Beautiful rides, amazing accommodations
Medieval Villages of Catalonia
Overall tour was terrific. Beautiful little towns, fantastic scenery, great accommodations. And a fair value. I would recommend to anyone.
One piece of constructive feedback, in general terms and then in specifics:
Our group of 24, while fit and capable, is a little older and a little more interested in historical background and local flavor. Our interest is more on the "tour" side of bike tour. Our guides did not really pick up on that. They were more on the "bike" side of bide tour and a little more focused on simply getting us from point to point. They were knowledgeable, friendly and great to be around, but maybe not ideally matched for our group.
This played out on the last day, our climb of Els Angeles. This is a significant effort and many of us were looking forward to, embraced and attacked the challenge. Our guides, however, did not handle the situation in regard to those in our group who clearly were going to make it to the top. One of our group, on a standard bike, struggled, overheated and ended up walking most of the way. Our sweeper, on an e-bike, was then forced to also push her heavy e-bike up the mountain to stay with him. All while our two guides waited at the top. Clearly on that day, one of the guides should have been the sweeper. At the very least, having summited, one of the guides should have descended and taken over for the sweeper.
There was nothing to be done for the struggling gentleman pushing his bike uphill - it was a hot day and he overheated. He is fit and generally capable, but was having a rough time that day. However, better process from the guides would have prevented our other person from having to push her e-bike up the mountain.- What was the date of your tour?

Beautiful landscapes - amazing way to see Catalonia
Medieval Villages of Catalonia
Our second trip through biketours.com did not disappoint. We did the peak season self-guided trip in August 2018. Our orientation guide was extremely kind and took a lot of time with us to get us oriented to the materials and the bikes. There was a hiccup on the first day with the bag drop off, but Daniel, the head of the local tour company, was responsive and immediately worked to rectify it. We were pleased that they gave us both a GPS device and an smartphone with the routes outlined in the maps.me app - so both of us could follow our route in real time. We had a few times where we had to backtrack just a bit to make a different turn, but we were never lost -- and the GPS-enabled devices meant we could venture off the course when we liked and then find our way back to the pre-determined route pretty easily. Bikes were very good. Roads were a mix of paved and dirt (about 60/40 I'd guess). We had one flat just before the last day but we were able to fix it with just tire inflation. All in all, we liked the routes and the suggested stopping points, as well as the hotels we stayed in -- especially the first and the last hotels. One thing that would have made the trip better would have been some information on each daily route, with more suggestions/options on places to stop in the various towns or along the way -- e.g. churches, museums, other points of interest.

Beautiful bike trip!
Medieval Villages of Catalonia
This is my second European bike trip with bike tours and it was even better than the first. Daniel from Creative Catalonia really went above and beyond. He met us at our hotel with the bikes, a reusable bag, water bottles, a map and a GPS. He made sure the bikes fit us and that we knew where to start. He was a very thoughtful communicator. The bike rides are low mileage but it is hilly, with gorgeous views. The rides are mostly on bike trails with about 30% being packed dirt/gravel. The gps was awesome and Daniel included places of where to stop to see interesting sites, recommendations for lunches or dinners, etc. His recommendations were great and very appreciated. The hotels that we stayed in were lovely and we really enjoyed them.
My only tip to bikers would be to bring your own helmet. I used the one provided which was sufficient but it didn’t have mips technology which is really standard for helmets in the US and would be the safest.
And for bike tours & Daniel — I’d suggest figuring out an alternative for the ride from Monells to Girona if you’re concerned about the safety of the bikers. I would have loved another day of biking and near the sea.
This was a great tour, lovely hotels, nice e-bikes, fabulous recommendations, easy to use GPS, I would highly recommend this tour. We went in mid September and the weather was hot and beautiful.- What was the date of your tour?

The distances each day on the e-bikes were very achievable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. The luggage transfers were seamless. The accommodation was excellent each night! Not five star - but beautiful locations and very comfortable. Overall, I highly recommend the tour.

Such a great trip!

We were hesitant to take a non-guided tour at first, but it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. The roots were interesting and the directions were great, and we got to take all of the roots on our own time and our own schedule. The hotels were wonderful, and the routes through the different seaside towns and medieval villages were fantastic! Daniel was communicative, responsive, and really helpful. Could not have been a happier with our trip!

Very good tour

The tour was great, Daniel was extremely helpful, and the accommodation was very good. However, the tour should not be rated as easy. The first two days were easy, and it was no problem using a normal bike. However, for the next four days we should have rented electric bikes - it would have made the trip much more enjoyable. It was obvious the seventh day was over the mountains and would be difficult, but did not ever plan to cycle that day, as we only had six days available.

A fabulous 7 days
Best of Catalonia Cycle Touring
Our e bike tour was meticulously routed by our guide Daniel. With his planning we adapted our North American stomachs to a later lunch which was always timed perfectly for the 4 of us to to end our day, allowing us to relax and enjoy a delicious main meal accompanied by wonderful local wines and beers. It was a surprise to us that our bike tour was just the four of us but it turned out to be a wonderful active holiday at just the right pace. A mirror and a bell for my e bike are the only suggestions I could make. We were mostly on well packed trails but also had fabulous downhill riding on quiet well paved roads where you could see a good distance ahead, which gave confidence to a novice rider. The weather cooperated, our accomadations were very comfortable, our bags were always there ahead of us, the bikes were great. What wonderful holiday.

Girona - Great Trip!

This was my first bike trip so I was a bit nervous but Lucy was amazing, she kindly installed the upright handlebars that I'd brought so that I could ride more upright. Lucy and Daniel gave us a very thorough briefing with maps and GPS devices. We had such an amazing trip I would highly recommend them!
