First Rate Bicycle Tour
Castles and Wines of Portugal
The tour company provided excellent service on our guided, group tour in early November. My wife and I were the only two people on the tour, but the tour went ahead with a van and at least two guides every day. Our tour was at the end of the dry season and the landscape was parched. We encountered some rain but most of the time the weather was excellent for cycling. The tour company was very good at accommodating customers bringing their own bike. The company's ebikes also were very good bikes for the terrain. I highly recommend this tour.

Lovely trip non touristy.
Danube River and Black Sea
Excellent trip and well organized by Deylan. Hotels had good food, cold beer, and pools. He was able to add a motorized boat tour on the Danube where we saw many birds. We saw many archeological sites. The bikes were good and he provides excellent directions. Wether was warm but the hotels all had air conditioning .

A wonderful adventure!
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
Bike Tours was incredibly helpful and their support staff was amazing. We had a few rough days, but they swooped in and assisted us. The local knowledge and recommendations on the tour guide were perfect choices for us. I can't recommend this tour enough for adventure seekers. Even with rain and wind it was still a great adventure! I do recommend getting hybrid bikes if you want to sight see vs a work out for this ride. The hybrid routes were fun and challenging. You see a side of the country few others will. It was difficult to not spend the whole day stopping at all the landmarks and each cafe you pass. Hotels and food everywhere were the best.

Fabulous family trip.
Medieval Villages of Catalonia
We had a group age 9 - 60 that thoroughly enjoyed this trip. You have two separate hotels where you stay for two nights each which made for a relaxing vacation. We had no problems with bikes, luggage or accommodations. The local tour company was very professional and the maps and GPS quite thorough. Make sure you know when lunch is in the area as we missed the mark once or twice and arrived for an American lunch hour to find it was siesta time. Also, you might want to verify sea views. The local tour company tries to ensure them but we arrived on a very busy week and it was a problem for our three in one room. The suggestions from Lucy (the local tour operator) were very good and she checked on us a couple of times during the trip because there was a heat wave happening that week. The sights, food and people of Spain were marvelous and I would highly recommend this trip.

Surrounded by beauty: Innsbruck to SalzburgA
Innsbruck to Salzburg: Through the Alps Along River Cycle Trails
Our self-guided ride was a beautiful ride along the rivers on well marked bike paths and trails. The scenery was amazing and the hotels were very comfortable. It was a wonderful way to experience the Austrian countryside, towns and people. I enjoyed the ride so much, I'd like to do it again!

Amazing cycling in Romania
Medieval Heritage of Transylvania
I cycled the Medieval Transylvania route solo with the support of local tour operator. I booked at very short notice but everything was perfectly organised. Great welcome, comprehensive travel notes and verbal information and a great Canondale bike (well serviced, all spares available and cycle panniers supplied). The daily routes (with accurate GPX files) were interesting and with diverse scenery. The routes were mainly on small quiet roads with only a few stretches of busier roads. Trip notes highlighted good places to stop for cultural visits, lunch and dinner. Oana helped book ahead at 2 places for lunch, which was greatly appreciated. The accommodation was fantastic (never been on a cycle holiday with such amazing accommodation before) - in castles and guesthouses. The proprietors were all kind, helpful and keen to explain the local history. Baggage transfer was efficient and easy. I've done many cycle holidays (in groups and solo) but this is one of the best! Definitely plan to go back to Romania for further cycle adventures. Thank you so much - especially to Oana who was amazing.

A great bike ride
Innsbruck to Salzburg: Through the Alps Along River Cycle Trails
My husband and I took this ride in late June 2017 as we were in the region for a wedding. It was an absolutely fantastic way to see a beautiful part of the world. The towns were charming, the scenery beautiful, and the people friendly. This trip is definitely not well-suited for anyone who is looking for a heavy dose of nightlife as the towns along the route are all fairly small. Think villages and ski towns.

Munich & the Bavarian Lakes
Bavaria is a very scenic area and riding through it on a bike was a sure way to appreciate its' beauty. Most of the ride was on bike paths/trails or country roads. The towns we stayed in were very quaint and interesting. I would definitely consider doing another ride like this.

Great locations, trip pace and places to stay
Dolomites to Venice Along the Old Dolomites Railway Track
Perfect way to see Bavaria, Tyrol, the Dolomites and into Venice. Old train tracks have been converted to bike trails, so you see towns and places that you would miss in a car. The mobile app keeps you on track. I'm convinced this is the best way to see a country and all my future trips will include a one week bike tour (if possible)

UNESCO Sites of Albania
We saw the poorest country in Europe up close but one filled with hardworking, friendly people determined to build an economy and a tourist industry. Awesome scenery, and a running commentary from trip leader Junid. Great meals, and a wonderful group from a half dozen nations.

Great way to experience the Camino
Camino de Santiago: A Pilgrim’s Route From Astorga to Santiago
The tour was well organised with bikes in good order and daily luggage transfers between hotels very effecient. All the hotels were clean, comfortable and friendly, and we found plenty of good and cheap restaurants for dinner. The food and wine were a highlight for our group. The daily rides were varied and apart from the last day to Santiago, the roads were uncrowded with little traffic. On the last day we found local roads to avoid the busy main roads which was easy to do and extended the day's ride to about 50kms. Highly recommended and we are now looking to book another ride later in the year.

Absolutely Fantastic time!
Salzburg Lakes Tour: Around the Lakes within the Foothills of the Alps
We just finished the ten lakes tour in June, 2016 and had the time of our life. Bike Tours Direct set us up with a local tour provider and delivered everything we hoped for. We opted for the eBikes and those are way too cool. These guys took our luggage from Gasthaus to Gasthaus (okay - inn to inn) and it was sure nice to arrive the next location and find our luggage waiting for us. Our tour took us through some amazing countryside, farms and especially the lakes. We would get to small villages in mid afternoon (i.e. - no tourists!), enjoy a local meal and head off to our next location in the morning. All the lodgings were fantastic with very friendly inn keepers. We will do this again and we will use Bike Tours Direct.

Most Scenic Least Effort Bike Tour Ever!
Innsbruck to Salzburg: Through the Alps Along River Cycle Trails
Scenery was incredible every single day. Paths were easy to ride and easy to navigate. Bikes were flawless. Hotels were mostly family run places with lots of local character in great locations with wonderful food and drink. Book it now and thank me later!

Great trip
Portugal's Atlantic Coast
Awesome bikes. Unbelievably awesome bikes. New, well outfitted, plenty of room for Our stuff. Bright orange and easy to see. Nice shocks. Included water bottles, nice touch. Tool helpful, small and big pumps helped, great to have all locks on the same code. Well thought out. (Might want to add a mirror to each).
As a company, very responsive, solved problems (new bike to Kathy, moved sick people), very timely. Even when we changed our flight at 10pm the night before, they adjusted the pick up time immediately. Instructions on the bus helped (Q&A). Good use of time. Final spreadsheets, individual itineraries, love it.
GPS ride app very easy to navigate and filled with useful info (sites, HILLS, distance, percent paved, etc) Downloading trips a must. They even suggested we bring spare battery chargers for the ride. Good tip. Trip Plans app also nice as a single place to understand the trip, sites, lodging, and overall itinerary.
Hotels rocked. Super well located for the cities to be explored. Clean, excellent buffet breakfasts. Buffets are the only way to go. Rooms in Obidos probably a bit small, but the location of the main hotel, with our own private brewery and courtyard was outstanding
The hauling of bags to the big bus in Lisbon was a bit challenging. They said we should be prepared to haul them for a couple of blocks. Well, the blocks in Wixom are smooth and “mostly flat”. We didn’t know that we would need repelling gear and sherpas for the big day. There is probably a tough balance between hotel location, size of group, and proximity to the bus, and city activities.
Possibly a van that makes a couple of trips with just our bags and we walk
The biketours people are used to biking Europe. Perhaps a “difficulty rating” like in golf.
For groups who are not “hard core bikers”……like all of us. We’d encourage an extra day in each city. This would allow for time to visit as well as recover. This was always presented as an option…..but we’d recommend that they suggest it as the norm.
Overall Rating: 9.9/10, Outstanding event and fun to see everyone. Would we recommend to others? Absolutely, and we already have multiple times…..including the specific tour company. Super impressed by how everyone was able to adapt to new cultures, driving habits, cobblestones, mountains, tour buses, crash sites, food, and people. When we tell people about the trip they are blown away. It was an adventure and challenge. Feather in caps.- What was the date of your tour?

Fantastic holiday
Florence to Rome: Bike through the Heart of Italy
Our trip through Italy was wonderful. Our guides Florian and Nicki looked after us in everyway. Very informative and worked so hard to make our trip memorable. Every hotel was top quality. Every meal delicious and excellent guided tours around Florence, Rome, Assisi and Perusia. This was our first cycling holiday, we we're a bit wary, but we loved it and it won't be our last.

Wonderful trip among the Alps
Tauern Bike Path (Salzburg-Salzburg)
This is our fourth self-guided bike trip with Bike Tours (Tuscany/Umbria, Romania, Greece, and now Austria from/to Salzburg). It is the new benchmark.
The bike trails were glorious and often in the country and along the rivers, usually
paved. The hotels (except for the last one near Salzburg) were excellent. The bike equipment was first class and very appropriate for the bike trails and occassional gravel. We are in our late sixties, so having so much of the trip on bike trails was special. The countryside was green and when we saw the Alps after some cloudy days, it was awe-inspiring.
This is a special trip.

Great trip were almost everything offered was delivered
Danube Bike Path 7 Nights (Classic)
The Danube valley and all the town along the way were beautiful. The Austrians were almost always friendly and helpful. The tandem bike was exceptionally well equipped being in good condition and plenty of detachable bags. The directions for the most part worked and the bike path was fantastic
