Great Trip Along The Danube
What a great trip. Great weather, easy to follow routing, bike paths most of the way and very few hills!!
The accommodations were perfect, and the choice of towns and cities to overnight in were great.
We spent extra days in Vienna and Budapest and both cities are a delight to visit.

Excellent overall trip
My wife and I really enjoyed the countryside between Vienna and Budapest. Bratislava and Györ were particularly interesting and picturesque Cities.

Great Tour
Yes highly recommend this. Mostly off road on good or at least reasonable paths. Bikes were heavy but sturdy and quite fun to ride. The geometry of the bikes means that you can get a good view of the countryside as you pedal through it. The standard of the hotels was good and we had no language problems. The guides and maps were pretty good but we also used a supplementary map we purchased. It is usually a bit tricky getting out of towns back on to the trail. My favourite place was Gyor which was unexpectedly really nice - great central old town. We added on days at either end so we got to see Vienna and Budapest properly - worth doing. We only had one significant problem which was the bikes were incorrectly sized - not sure whether our fault or theirs - but this was swiftly rectified on Day Two.

Fabulous trip, great for a group
What a great way to see so many little towns that likely people would not visit unless they were doing this trip. We loved very little town for a different reason and in its own way! We had some rough weather one day but we sorted that out. We had a group of 8 and this trip is very good for a larger group like that!
I would like to have known more about what was provided before we arrived. We were told there were no bottle cages, but our bike had them. i didnt bring a bottle because i thought we would not have them. Also, we did NOT have large packs on the bike, which we were told we WOULD have. So my packing was just the opposite of what I would have packed had i known the actual equipment. But we sorted it out after the first day and got on with it! Loved the vest we got for the tour, it served me very well. i used it every day. We rented the gravel bikes, well worth the money if you are an avid cyclist. They were great bikes!!- What was the date of your tour?

Beautiful & Historically Rich
Our self guided cycle trip from Vienna to Budapest was extraordinary. The navigation guide worked really well for the daily cycles and the pacing of our days was great, other than we would have opted to stay in some of the cities like Gyor and Budapest for an extra day to do some history tours. Great hotels, planning and support otherwise.

Everyuthing was perfect. Since the metting to give us all the details, the bikes, the hotels, the suitcase transportation, etc. But the best was the views and the roads

Vienna To Budapest
Bike Tours did a nice job connecting us with a good tour operator.
Bikes were in good condition. The route was excellent.
They also accommodated our hotel request change for Budapest and were very responsive to a small financial glitch. Highly recommend them- What was the date of your tour?

Enjoyable holiday
The bikes were good. Although if you can take your own saddle , cleats and shoes might improve your comfort.
Hotels were really good with incredible breakfasts
Overnight stops were well selected for tourism
We used no navigation aids (gps, phone etc) possibly an electronic route would make navigating easier but getting lost is part of the fun
Any fitness level could do this

Fab 4 Bike trip
We had a wonderful time biking the Danube from Vienna to Budapest. The accommodations were great and the app was easy to follow. The bikes were very comfortable with soft seats and fairly upright so no wrist or neck issues. Our group of four ladies was a perfect amount of people to travel with. I would encourage anyone who can bike to do this trip.

Great cycling trip!
The classic tour from Vienna to Budapest exceeded our expectations. We had a lovely stretch of weather, warm with no rain, so the riding was easy and pleasant. The small towns were delightful, especially Gyor, and every hotel was comfortable.
The bikes were sturdy but lightweight, easy to ride and control.
Power banks were needed every day to maintain the provided navigation.- What was the date of your tour?

Get out there and LIVE!
This tour was well orchestrated with every detail Jozef (our "pre-tour" guide) gave us perfect instructions so we stayed on course without troubles. We upgraded, and the hotels were all nice and in good locations regarding the bike trail (with the exception of the huge city of Budapest). We also used the ride with GPS app, which was extremely helpful. We had some rainy windy days, but overall the experience was delightful. I thought the breakfasts were ample except the one in Visegrad.

Super Fun Bike Tour
This was a great tour. All of the details were handled very smoothly. Sandy took care of the luggage transfer with no problems. We enjoyed the towns and hotels that we visited. All of the meals were delicious. We usually don’t purchase dinners through the tour but in this case we were glad that we did because we got several evenings of authentic Hungarian meals. The bikes we rented were great for the terrain we cycled on. We will happily book other bike tours with this company.

A "watered-down" cycling trip
No fault of your operator, we arrived in Vienna in midst of Storm Boris, and historic Danube flooding. While the tour operator did great job trying to accomodate for ever changing conditions, we only managed to cycle 3 of 6 days... Flooding made sections impassable, including last couple days. What we did see while cycling was not particularly scenic. And I'd heard that the Vienna/Budapest ride was not the best of sections to ride along the Danube, but my experience was limited. Bratislava was definitely worth a stay over and Budapest is a city we enjoyed very much throughout our extended stay (5 nights).

A few issues
We have riden with BikeTours in the past, and loved it. This tour had some pros and cons. Pros: The hotels were great. The bikes were in good condition, and the in-country staff were responsive and easy to get in touch with.
Cons: We used Google maps on our last tour. It’s useless here except inside the major cities. The provided app is a battery killer. Make sure you have a portable charger or are with others who can use their phones when yours dies. The maps also stop at the city gates. Since they know your hotels when they make the map, they should include your hotel and all of the mentioned attractions. We wasted a ton of time trying to get to sites that weren’t on their app.
Avoid Mosonmagyaróvár. If you’re doing an independent tour, you could bike to it and then take the train to Györ. There is a lot more to do there.
Finally, we rode this a week or so after the record-setting flood. We were prepared for some issues, but were told “you
won’t even be able to tell there was a flood“. The bike paths are fine“. There was an area about 15 km outside of Vienna that was impassable were it not for a kind farmer with a tractor that made a path. People were sliding out in slick mud. Another area before Esztergom had trees for several km in the path that was listed, and a place where it told us to walk our bikes over a weir. There was actually a dry, paved and debris-free path just above it that wasn’t new. I was wondering why the in-country rental company didn’t know about these. It seems as though the map hadn’t been updated for some time. They also say that there are no places to get food between some of the towns. We saw restaurants or grocery stores every 6-10 km.All in all, we did have a great time, but I think it would be hard for first timers or slower cyclists. I would recommend additional days in Bratislava and Budapest.

Excellent trip around the Danube, with plenty of sights and lovely lodging. Sadly tainted by really bad weather (4 days of storm and heavy rain) at the end of May.

Mighty Danube
We enjoyed the experience of cycling from Vienna to Budapest through 3 different countries. The people were lovely as was the ever changing scenery along the mighty Danube. All the hotels chosen were excellent. We appreciated that our luggage was always there when we arrived usually in the late afternoon. Distances were very manageable. Loading the electric bikes on the trains in Slovakia and Hungary was a challenging feat. Locating our hotel in beautiful Budapest was somewhat difficult due very busy traffic and not much cycling infrastructure. The reward of a lovely hotel with thoughtful staff soon eliminated any angst we may have had. Overall this is a trip I would happily endorse.

A good trip
Overall a very good trip. We have bike along the Danube from Passau to Vienna and that trip was more scenic. This trip was very flat and went through a lot of farm land and nice towns. While we were very close to the Danube most of the time, we could see it less than half of the time. The hotels were excellent and the breakfasts were alway very good. We had a rough start in that pretrial communication was not optimal and we could not get the combination of the bike locks. Other that that things went smoothly. At one point, we were told to follow an embankment along the Danube River. The trail was not paved and there were two ruts about 6 inches wide and an inch deep and foot long grass. That is where the GPS told us to go. I had a fall, which also happened to another couple along the same trail. Other than that the trails and road were good. The riding instructions were more or less accurate but were off by 1 kilometer or more at times despite the instructions being to the nearest 0.1 Km. The GPS was critical. You need a good battery on your smart phone, because if it goes dead, you could be in trouble just following the instructions

Nice Trip
The lodging was very nice. Provided Meals were good to very good. The provided bike was very good but developed shifting issues and tire rubbing issues as the trip went on. Since some group members got ebike upgrades, the operator worked on mine as he delivered the new bikes.
This trip needs to run in the opposite direction. The prevailing wind is just too strong at times. I was warned of that before the trip but took a chance on it. We really struggled at times. That also took away from the time we had for sightseeing. We wanted to explore sights along the way but didn't have the time as we tried to get to the next town at a reasonable time. If we had been going the opposite direction life would have been lots better. Also, we all paid for dinners, but two of us were told our dinners had not been paid for and we would have to pay for them. After much arguing we got our dinners but it was very awkward and uncomfortable.
